After a last minute decision due to the wet weather we decided to battle the elements anyway. With the boat in the water ,old mate jumped in the 4x4 and kangaroo hopped it right in front of the police paddy wagon (forgot to tell him it was in low range) RBT Time. I knew it would be a interesting day from there on as he caught 2 sargents already. We got to the reef early before sun up & drifted over & over it flicking plastics around as well as two baited rigs just of the bottom, it wasn't long before something big nailed my plastic after 3-4 solid runs I was starting to get worried i was going to get busted up as I only had 15lb leader then the fish tired and slowly came to the surface with only a few lazy head shakes turned out to be a Snapper I guessed 7kg old mate said 8.1kg ,when it was weighed in later we found out it was 8.055kg nice guess 'doggo'. Then the trouble started the gps packed it in, with a bit of trouble we found the reef again using land marks. Next drop doggos TS44 with the baited rig screamed into life with a massive hook up, watching the line peel of the reel I was hoping it was his turn to land a big fish but thinking in the back of my mind 'theres no way your getting that line back' after a good 2 minutes the dreeded happend SNAP busted up on 30lb mono. Two more Snapper around the 1.5kg mark and 1 smaller were caught & then doggo hooked another solid fish this time on plastic only to have the dodgey jig head straightend out on him another good fish lost. What else could go wrong? A cheap reel decide to snap on us up near the mount with another good hook up and yet another fish lost. We decided to head for home due to heavy rain and gear failure with 4 Snapper in the esky . A good mornings fishing had with a few lessons learnt on and off shore!
Went fishing for snapper on 28/10/07 came up with a nice Knoby
Heres another Red we Got on plastics it went 6kg
